Frozen Fun For Fowl

The girls have learned that treats are a good thing. With the heat we decided to give them a frozen goody, watermelon.

They immediately took to it like it was the first time they had ever eaten.

It was clear that there was not enough elbow room around each slice.

And Sarah was still calling them out of the coop to make sure no one missed out on the yumminess.

Taylor had the tunes going for there dinner music. She swears they have a preference of genres.

Daniel and Sarah put another slice in the shade.

It did not take long for some of the girls to attack, and clearly Daniel was in the way.

This broad even claimed it for her very own.

Of course that did not work out too well for her.

They really enjoyed the cool treat and it did not take them long to devour everything. It is fun to watch them enjoy themselves and it is a great way to help them stay cool.

I found this article over at Backyardpoultrymag.com, which is a great site, and it was written by Gail Damerow who is a well-known poultry expert and the author of many books. The article is called Digest This What Happens After Your Chickens Eat and is full of useful information. Just click on the article title and it will take you there, definitely a must read.
